Rs.25000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION ON 4 MEN WHO RECORD VIDEO TOTURING LEOPARD CUB IN GIR FOREST !

Hunt is on for a group of men who recorded a video of themselves while torturing a leopard cub in Gujarat’s Gir forest. The men could be seen holding the cub by its neck against a tree. They were cheering and hooting, while torturing the cub. One of them also asked if the video of the act was being recorded. The video was then uploaded on social media.

The video soon went viral, and enraged environment lovers. The forest authorities also took note of the issue and appealed to people on social media to identify the men involved in the act.

Deputy conservator of forest Gir (east) division tweeted “A cash award of Rs 25,000 for providing information or help in catching these culprits is announced by Greater Gir Task Force. Contact concerned DCFs or DCF Greater Gir Task Force at 7574950055.”

According to the Wildlife Act, harassing or torturing such animals is an offence. However, repeated instances of such acts and several videos of similar kinds make it clear that people are not afraid of the laws of the Forest Department.

As of now, hunt is on to nab the accused. Going by the clothing, it is possible that the men are localities who often visit the forest and graze their cattle there.
